GREENVILLE, NC—Kick off the Holiday Season with holly jolly celebrations as Uptown and The City of Greenville host Greenville Gives in the Uptown District from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 5.

Greenville Gives, the City’s official start of the holiday season, will look slightly different this year, but still provide opportunities to give back to non-profit organizations and highlight local artists and vendors during the annual Holiday Market. The event will follow guidance from state and local agencies related to COVID-19. To reduce gathering numbers, the event will span throughout the Uptown District. The tree lighting, reading of the holiday story, and messages from participating non-profits will be shared virtually on GTV-9 and social media.

This year’s event is a collaborative effort between the City’s Recreation and Parks Department, Public Works, and City Manager’s Office with Uptown Greenville, the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, and the Greenville Jaycees.

New this year, Greenville Gives will coincide with the Jaycee’s drive-thru Christmas Parade, consisting of decorated floats along Greene, First, and Cotanche streets. The parade route begins with a stop by Santa’s house on Greene Street, where children can wave to the man in the big red suit.  Tune in to v103.3 for non-stop holiday tunes while navigating through the parade route.

Greenville Gives welcomes donations to the following non-profit organizations: Joy Soup Kitchen, The Salvation Army, The Ronald McDonald House, Greenville Police Department – PAL and Cops & Barbers, Parents for Public Schools, The Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC, and Greenville Fire and Rescue – Operation Santa Claus. Donation stations for the non-profits will be set up in the Hammock Garden on Evans Street and the green space by Ford + Shep on Dickinson Avenue. Donation items include paper products, dental hygiene items, small bath essentials, non-perishable foods, adult hygiene items, socks, gloves, winter hats, and toys for Operation Santa Claus.

The Holiday Market at the Five Points Plaza will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Vendors will be socially distant with additional safety measures in place. Holiday photo stations are available throughout the Uptown District to stop and enjoy the holiday scenes.
