GREENVILLE, NC—Shop ‘Till You Drop in Uptown! Locally-owned, independent businesses are what makes Uptown Greenville the exciting, vibrant place that we know and love. The annual “Small Business Saturday” event will be held on November 28.

Founded by American Express and held each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Small Business Saturday is an exclusive event for small retailers and other community businesses. Now in its eleventh year, Small Business Saturday is a promotional platform for merchants of all kinds.

Supporting local businesses is encouraged now more than ever due to COVID-19. According to American Express, 62% of U.S. small businesses reported that in order to stay in business consumer spending has to return to pre-COVID levels by the end of 2020.

“Shopping local helps small businesses thrive in the Uptown District,” said Ryan Webb, owner of Farmers and Makers. “Many retailers and restaurants will be open both days (Black Friday and Small Business Saturday).”

According to the 2018 Small Business Economic Impact Study, on average, for every dollar spent at a small business, 67% stays in the local community.
