GREENVILLE, NC– Meredith Hawke has been named Interim Executive Director of Uptown Greenville, the city’s downtown development organization that exists to promote quality cultural, residential, and economic growth.
For the last three years, Hawke served as the Events and Branding Director for Uptown Greenville. She and her team hosted more than 60 events annually, welcoming more than 120,000 people per year to the city center.
“I am both humbled and thrilled by the opportunity to continue the growth in the heart of the city, Uptown Greenville,” Hawke said. “There are tremendous opportunities for us as a central business district. Attracting new business while supporting our existing merchant community rank high amongst my priorities.”
In recent years, the central business district has seen a 400 percent increase in the residential population, and welcomed more than 710 new jobs, resulting in more than $660 million in public and private investments.
“We have been fortunate to have Meredith on staff with Uptown Greenville leading our event and marketing efforts,” said Michael Glenn, Chairman of the Board. “There’s a tremendous advantage to promoting from within an organization, Meredith knows the day-to-day operation well. I feel confident she will carry us forward during this time of transition.”
Hawke, a 2016 graduate of East Carolina University, has experience working with a variety of organizations local to Greenville including Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County, serving as a communications intern, working as a leasing consultant and community assistant at 33 East and The Scion Group.
