GREENVILLE, N.C. — Southern Soleil, the first sunless-only salon in Eastern North Carolina is now open in Uptown Greenville. Staying true to the building’s era, the 1920’s themed salon is located at 802 Dickinson Ave.

Owner Ellen Sheffer graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in counseling. Although she felt passionate about the work she was doing, she realized that it was not her end goal. She joined the salon and spa industry where she worked her way up, ultimately deciding to make it her career. Sheffer has been a spray tan artist for 10 years and is master certified.

“My goal is to educate the community on the notion of ‘spray, don’t lay’, as many health risks are associated with the tanning industry,” says Sheffer

It took a few months to find the perfect location for her first salon, but Sheffer knew that Uptown Greenville was where her salon belonged. She is not only excited to be a part of the revitalization of the Uptown District but also to bring the first sunless salon to the area.

The salon depicts a vintage feel with an ambiance of luxury, specializing in handheld spray tanning, full body contouring, CBD body hydration therapy, teeth whitening, and more.
