GREENVILLE, N. C. – Freeboot Friday, the official pep rally of home football games, kicks-off the ECU family weekend on Friday, September 15th at 5:00pm, at Five Points Plaza. The event features the ECU Pirate Club and music from the David Dixon Trio. Attendees will welcome visits from PeeDee the Pirate, Phillip Wood from the ECU Pirate Club, ECU Cheer Team, plus autographs from ECU women’s volleyball and soccer teams.

Fresh off of his debut album release, Wilmington, NC-based songwriter, David Dixon continues to gain momentum all over the South East. Dixon studied guitar performance and songwriting at the acclaimed Berklee College of Music in Boston. His guitar-driven power trio demonstrates an alluring blend of Blues, Jam, Rock, and Soul, truly something for everyone. Think Gary Clark Jr. meets John Mayer, with some Red Hot Chili Peppers sprinkled on top. Dixon has performed for the US Military in South Korea multiple times and has also performed in the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, and all over the United States.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be back in my hometown for this week’s Freeboot Friday! Of all of the places I’ve ever performed during my music career, no one beats a Pirate Nation celebration!”
