The First Friday ArtWalk returns Friday, September 5th and continues on the first Friday of each month. This week’s First Friday will showcase more live art than ever before; think music, dance and mobile art.
Art Avenue will host an opening reception for Pastels, an exhibition featuring work by Angel Harker, complete with appetizers from Christy’s Euro Pub and music by Rebekah Todd.
The Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge will unveil artwork aboard the Bus Gallery, which will be parked on the corner of 4th and Evans Street. The bus will showcase masterpieces from students of the Youth Public Arts Project, the organization’s longest running outreach program. This design will be installed in 13 Greenville Area Transit buses and First Friday ArtWalk attendees will get to see it first!
Uptown Greenville is excited to debut a new component to the event: First Friday Jazz, a monthly series of jazz music at The Chapel at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church from 8:00-9:30pm immediately following the ArtWalk in the Uptown district. ECU Jazz faculty members and jazz legends Jeff Blair and Scott Stewart will headline the program on September 5.
Admission to First Friday Jazz is ten dollars for the community and five dollars for students. Attendees who visit the Greenville Museum of Art during the ArtWalk from 5:00-8:00pm on September 5 can receive a free ticket for free admission to the jazz concert.
Attendees can prepare for an evening of fun by not only gearing up for great tunes, but by also bringing their dancing shoes! Sponsored by Uptown Greenville, the Folk Arts Society of Greenville will host First Friday Variety Dances every ArtWalk from September through December from 7:00-9:00pm at the Tipsy Teapot. The first format to be featured at the September ArtWalk is swing dance. Admission is free to the public!
