Farm Tour

The Umbrella Market Farm Tour is a self-guided tour allowing the public to see local farmers in the eastern Carolina area. This is a great way to highlight Uptown Greenville’s Umbrella Market farms and allow everyone the opportunity to learn more about the agricultural community and the local food economy. The tour provides the general public a chance to stop by and visit friendly farmers around the area.

Come out to the farm to see the cows, pigs, and chickens and take a tour. You can also get back to basics with some hiking around the farm. Parnell Farms will have pumpkins and hay bales, homemade jams and jellies, honey and Parnell Farms pork (10% discount on pork). This year we have a small maze for the “little ” people ($2 charge). There are cutouts for photo ops and miniature horses, donkeys and mules to see.

Raised in a Barn Farm has a maze which is 8 acres surrounded by beautiful sunflowers. There are three mazes within it, with the longest at 2.7 miles. They have play areas for the children with barrel train, slide, straw maze, bounce balls, photo ops, and more. On October 10, there is live music planned for the day along with food and craft vendors plus a Zombie Fun Run starting at 6pm! They are selling pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, corn-on-the-cob popcorn, local photography and more. The last three weekends in October are the Six Nights of Fright, so be sure to visit the farm again after the Farm Tour. Come GET LOST IN CHOCOWINITY…and dare to return to SIX NIGHTS OF FRIGHT!

Bennett Vineyards creates wines with the Muscadine and Scuppernong grapes native to the region.  The are the only pure Muscadine with an 1840 recipe.  They make a dry Muscadine wine and also have a blended division of wines.  Stop by for a tour and a tasting.  Tastings will start at the top of every hour with the last tasting being one hour from closing. There is a special on a case of wine for $120.

The farm will offer any of their sausages for $5 per pound for farm tour guests. They have mild country sausage, bratwurst, chorizo and andouille. They will have a variety of fresh vegetables and homemade jams and jellies.  Their newest addition Mason, a baby miniature donkey, will be on the farm. Also see their baby miniature mule, Jim, the goats, chickens, pigs and miniature horses too.  There are cut outs for photo ops and a great yard to play in.
