Uptown Greenville announces Freeboot Friday, plus Game Day Shuttle Service.

GREENVILLE, N.C.— ECU fans have showcased their school pride time and time again. The day before the first football game will be no different- with the help of the official pep rally of home football games, Freeboot Friday.

            The free event, sponsored by Wells Fargo, is open to alumni, students and fans beginning September 1, 2017 at 5:00pm at the Five Points Plaza. In correlation with the East Carolina University home football games, Uptown Greenville will host six Freeboot Friday events:  September 1, September 15, September 29, October 6, October 20, and November 10.

            This first event, dubbed “Pirate Club” Freeboot Friday will host visits from Mayor Smith, the ECU Pirate Club, PeeDee, the ECU Cheerleaders, Head Football Coach Scottie Montgomery, Head Women’s Soccer Coach Rob Donnenwirth, and the ECU Marching Pirates.

5:25pm Coach Scottie Montgomery

5:30-6:30pm: Dub Addis

6:30pm Coach Rob Donnenwirth

6:45pm-6:55pm: ECU Marching Pirates

6:55pm-8pm: Dub Addis

8pm: Strike of event

            The fall music series, entering its 18th year, will include a variety of music styles, leading with reggae band dub Addis. Soulful and energizing, dub Addis combines intricate Ethiopian melodies with the rhythms of Reggae to create an original sound that moves both the heart and mind. Continuing the rich traditions of Ethiopian music and the legacy of the great Reggae artists, the music of dub Addis unites people of all backgrounds in a celebration of life. For over a decade dub Addis has shared their passion with the audiences. They have shared the stage with The Wailers, Steel Pulse, Arrested Development and many others.

Uptown Greenville is pleased to announce that it will offer the Sup Dogs Game Day Shuttle services from the Uptown district to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. The shuttle will run three hours prior, during, and two hours post game for each home game, including Thursday game days. Shuttle route information can be found here.  While supporting Uptown businesses is encouraged, tailgating is prohibited in the municipal parking lots.
