Holy Ghost Tent Revival to Headline St. Patrick’s Day Festivities

February 15, 2016

Greenville’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration will kick off Saturday, March 12, at 11:00am in Uptown Greenville. The festivities begin with a Color Vibe 5k starting at the Town Common at 11:00am. Runners will get covered with vibrant colors while running the Uptown District.

Uptown Greenville’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival will go live at 1:00pm at the Five Points Plaza, located at the corner of 5th and Evans Street. The event will include live music, a grog garden, food offerings, and kids activities.

Greenville, NC’s Fire and Rescue team will be onsite with a fire truck and fire safety educational activities. Join Uptown Greenville in showing appreciation to our local fire and rescue personnel with a meet and greet and fire and rescue games and activities.

At 3:00pm, the Ancient Order of Hibernians & the Greenville Jaycees will present the third annual Greenville St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which will travel along Evans Street in Uptown Greenville starting at 8th Street and concluding at 3rd Street.

“We are excited to be working with not only Uptown Greenville, but also with the Greenville Jaycees as well. With their help we are confident this year’s parade will be bigger and better than ever before,” says Bill Heafy, President of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

“With the continued support of these two wonderful organizations, the City of Greenville and the community that is Pitt County, this great Irish tradition will grow and inspire generations for years to come.”

At 3:30pm, the party will continue at Five Points Plaza as festivalgoers will get to hear from the event’s headlining band—Holy Ghost Tent Revival, a North Carolina based, American-horn driven rock and roll band with blues and folk leanings.

Holy Ghost Tent Revival’s exhilarating live show has uplifted audiences since the band formed in 2007. For the past eight years, they have been honing their unique sound, which NPR describes as that of a “soul-rock horn band that recalls 60s and 70s class rock-influences such as The Band and The Flying Burrito Brothers, contemporary indie-rock acts like Dr. Dog, and New Orleans brass-band jazz.”

“Holy Ghost Tent Revival loves playing in Greenville,” says Stephen Murray, vocalist and guitarist for the band. “Our Greenville shows feel like hometown shows where there is just so much energy shared between the band and the crowd. It’s exciting every time we return.”

The whole community is invited to come out to enjoy the daylong celebration staring with the Color Vibe 5K and ending at Five Points Plaza to enjoy the festivities and the parade. Attendees are encouraged to don their green and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in style.

The St. Patrick’s Day Festival is organized by Uptown Greenville and supported by the following sponsors: City of Greenville, Greenville-Pitt County & Convention and Visitors Bureau, Guinness, Greenville, N.C. Fire & Rescue, Miller Lite, The Daily Reflector, and Greenville Times.
