GREENVILLE, N.C.–Come Uptown on March 6th from 5-8pm for a wonderful night out on the town for First Friday in Uptown Greenville! Experience culture and the feast upon the visual, artistic and culinary delights the district has to offer.

A reception at Uptown Art Supply and Gallery will celebrate the opening of “Broken,” a collection of paintings, textiles and drawings from Matthew McCarthy. This collection will remain open until March 28.

Art Avenue will host the “Fugheads” exhibition by Andy Denton as well as a music performance by Nathan Maxwell. Complimentary hors d’oeurves and drinks will be provided, and Art Avenue members will receive a special ArtWalk discount on purchases.

Visit The Art Room during the ArtWalk this evening to purchase and savor some of the delicious mini cupcakes provided by Patty Cakes of Greenville. Also, remember to make a note on your calendars for the MFA exhibit on March 13-20. The reception will be held on Friday, March 13 7-9 pm. Be sure to come out and see Steven Hall, who will be there next week for The Form of Healing Vibrations.

The Downeast sculpture exhibition will open at the PittCounty Arts Council at Emerge as well as “On the Wall,” a national juried competition of any media and any subject matter with a stipulation that it must hang on the wall.

The annual East Carolina University School of Art and Design Undergraduate Exhibition will be on view in the Wellington B. Graygallery from March 5 to April 3. Area curriculum coordinators in the School of Art and Design select the outstanding works submitted from over 500 undergraduate students.

Be sure to visit The Art Room while you are out and about at tonight’s ArtWalk. You will have a chance to purchase and savor the deliciousness of sweet mini cupcake treats made fresh by Patty Cakes Cupcakes. You’ll also be able to purchase beautiful St. Patrick’s Day cards made by the one and only Nelle Hayes!

At 8:00pm, immediately following the ArtWalk, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will host their monthly First Friday Jazz series. March’s concert will showcase The Quartet featuring four jazz students from East Carolina University.

As a note, Coastal Fog will not be open during the March First Friday due to renovations but will be opening again for the April First Friday. The Jolly Trolley will not be operating during tonight’s event, but will be back for April First Friday on April 3.

Don’t forget to visit Uptown restaurants and shops like Chico’s Mexican Restaurant for free queso dip with the purchase of an entrée, Fitzgerald’s for buy one get one free appetizers, Sojourner for ten percent off your entire purchase and many more.
