Uptown Lights Up the Holidays — with LED
December 3, 2014
Uptown Greenville invites you to get in the holiday spirit this Friday, December 5 with something for everyone, and it’s all about giving.
“This is a magical time Uptown,” said Uptown Greenville Executive Director Bianca Shoneman. “The Uptown Greenville First Friday ArtWalk has taken off this year with increased participation and more variety than ever before, and there is no better way to cap the year than with this December slate.”
● Greenville Gives: 5:30-7:00 p.m. All are invited to come to Five Points Plaza for the Annual Greenville Gives donation celebration and tree lighting ceremony. Hear a Christmas story; enjoy live music and dance performances, see Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive and more! Full performance schedule and list of needed donations below. Sponsored by Suddenlink and presented by the City of Greenville and Uptown Greenville;
● First Friday ArtWalk: 5-8 p.m. Take self-guided gallery tours, enjoying hors d’oeuvres and drinks along the way, as well as restaurant and retail deals. See participating venues here;
● Holiday Market: 5-8 p.m. See Evans Street, between 4th and 5th, transformed into a village of treasures where you can find unique gifts and support regional artists and crafters;
● Ales and Tails Pub Walk: 7-10 p.m. Adults who want to have a night out while supporting the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina can compare the beer and free food at three different Uptown restaurants by registering for the Ales and Tails Pub Walk here. Tickets are $25 each. Event begins at 7 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. with an after-party at Fitzgerald’s and a swag bag full of great prizes from Coastal Beverage, Uptown Greenville, Peasant’s Pub and the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina.
While you’re Uptown, be sure to notice the new LED lights making their first appearance in crepe myrtle trees along Evans Street on Friday night. These high efficiency lights are Uptown Greenville’s way of celebrating its recent induction into the state’s Department of Natural Resources “NC Green Travel” initiative.
Come back Uptown on Saturday, December 6 at 10:30 a.m. and help the Greenville Jaycees celebrate their 75th anniversary by enjoying the Jaycees Jingle Jam Christmas parade along Evans Street.
