Cinnamon Indian Restaurant: New Name, Same Great Food
August 1, 2014
Regulars to Uptown Greenville may have noticed something new on Evans Street: An awning now stretches over what was once Dale’s Indian Cuisine, one of Greenville’s gems of fine ethnic dining. But the sign doesn’t say “Dale’s;” it says “Cinnamon Indian Cuisine.”
Wholesome, flavorful, natural and fresh food is what Dale’s always delivered, and with Tirath Singh, the former manager of Dale’s, taking over the business earlier this month, Cinnamon is sure to deliver the same.
Singh has given the restaurant more than a name change to mark its new ownership, though. “We have painted and added wall scenes, as well as added new menu items,” said Singh who runs the kitchen with his wife in his family-operated restaurant.
New appetizers feature deep-fried south Indian spiced chicken and tilapia. There’s also a new section of Chaat Bhandar, or savory small plates bringing together crispy dough and medleys of potato with chutney, yogurt, chickpeas, curries and other vegetables, herbs and spices.
The new menu increases seafood and vegetarian offerings as well. Five new seafood specialties use coastal Indian flavors and feature crab, goa fish, sea bass, shrimp, scallops and lobster. Diners can now choose from 18 vegetarian dishes, including four new ones featuring chickpeas, fried vegetables and potato patties and incorporating Indian-Chinese flavors.
All your old favorite appetizers, soups, salads, vegetarian and non-vegetarian specialties remain: lamb and goat, clay oven tandoor dishes, chicken, seafood, mixed-rice biryanis, and plenty of bread options–a total of 100 menu items. Children’s items and a full bar are also available.
Cinnamon offers an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet on weekdays from 11:00am-2:30pm, weekend brunch from noon-3:00pm and dinner from 5:00-10:00pm daily, with student discounts and free delivery.
“We are so happy to keep Cinnamon as part of our Uptown dining family,” said Bianca Shoneman, Uptown Greenville Executive Director. “The availability of fresh, delicious and well-prepared food is part of what makes Uptown so special and keeps people coming back.”
